Declaration of Registrable Interests of Clive Palmer MP - owner of Waratah Coal which has mining interests on the NSW North Coast

Because the new Federal Member for Fairfax and Leader of the Palmer United Party, Clive Palmer MP, appears to be the sole owner of exploration and coal mine development company Waratah Coal Pty Ltd and, because this company holds at least two exploration licenses  in the Nymbioda district of the Clarence River catchment area it would be wise for local residents to familiarise themselves with the diverse and often complex business relationships of this politician as set out in his Statement of Registrable Interests.

The 2013 Australian Federal Election may be over but the circus will continue.......

Palmer United Party Leader Clive Palmer's electoral status may still be in doubt but Mal Brough has been confirmed as elected to the Australian Parliament, so there is now a little extra sting in the tail of this court case.

Sunshine Coast Daily 5 September 2013:

CLIVE Palmer has issued a Supreme Court writ seeking more than $800,000 in damages from Fisher LNP candidate Mal Brough.
The billionaire Palmer United Party candidate for Fairfax alleges Mr Brough made statements to the Press which effectively claimed he had lied to Australian voters and that he had done so for his political gain and that of his fledgling party.
In a statement of claim issued in the Supreme Court this morning Mr Palmer stood by his own statements that Mr Brough approached him last year to fund the James Ashby sexual harassment suit against sitting Member for Fisher Peter Slipper who is standing as an independent against Mr Brough.
Mr Palmer's legal team yesterday emailed Mr Brough asking him if he had solicitors on whom the writ could be served. The email said if no response had been received by 11am today it would be taken that Mr Brough wanted the writ served personally on himself.
The writ seeks $355,500 in general compensatory damages and a further $450,000 in aggravated compensatory damages and costs.

Clive Palmer plays the buffoon in Lyne electorate

Clive Palmer toured the Lyne electorate on the weekend to meet supporters of the Palmer United Party (PUP) and to drum up support for party candidates.
The businessman and entrepreneur attended forums in Port Macquarie and Taree to answer questions regarding party policies.
On Monday morning Mr. Palmer spoke with ABC Mid North Coast Mornings Presenter Michael Spooner.
The conversation abruptly ended when Clive Palmer could not name the PUP candidate for Lyne.

Meet Page's PUP

The Daily Examiner 10 June 2012:

Mr Palmer has announced Stephen Janes, who owns That New Coffee Shop at Ballina with his wife, Jennie, will stand challenge sitting member Janelle Saffin for the seat of Page at the Federal election in September……
In a statement released by the Palmer United Party, Mr Janes said he wanted to represent "people like me".

UPDATE:

Steve Janes now has a blog, on which he cheerfully admits that: I’m new to the area, don’t know many people, don’t know the issues! He also expects that the issues in Page can be learnt quickly.

One could almost feel for this somewhat clumsy novice - except for the fact that his party leader is still pursuing the possibility of commercially mining coal in that part of the Clarence River catchment where an estimated 126,000 people source their drinking water.

By standing for the Palmer United Party Janes is standing for the mining industry's continuing attempts to exploit what Northern Rivers communities have fought hard to protect - our natural environment, water security and regional economies.
